:: Synopsis

From the onset of this project, I experimented to use both 3D renders and photography. I looked back on a previous experiment where I had taken photos of doors and replaced the opposing side with photos of the beach and ocean.  To further test this concept, I photographed my garage door and composited it with a 3D image I had created earlier in the semester. I was pleased with the result of the test and decided to develop the concept into this full project.

 I was inspired by several films, novels, and shows, like The Chronicles of Narnia, Monsters Inc, and Stranger Things, for this project. I explored the relationship I could create between the doors and their designed interiors. I began incorporating textures and geometry from the photographs to add greater cohesion. In contrast, for some of the images, I wanted to create a dichotomy between the inside and outside. For all the images, however, I color balanced and worked at creating transitions between the photographs and 3d renders. Much like surrealist art, these images are meant to invoke wonder, confusion, and contemplation.
